From Week 28-30, 2010
Have some koala cookies~ I know I've been lazy with blogging, but heck, it's been one hell of a week. Imagine waking up at 5:30am for three days in a row- from Tuesday to Thursday, and having a 12-hour long placement (which is in reality 15 hours if you include travel time).

But hey, it hasn't even been a week since my last entry. At least it's not half a year =P

From Week 28-30, 2010
Spring is definitely coming. Today's sky was blue and cloudless, and these fell off a tree in front of our house and scattered all over the floor.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Looking a lot like mini white fireworks.

From Week 28-30, 2010
It's always funny seeing people dressed up in things and walking around. This was taken a while back in front of World Square- a big walking Boost. We've seen a giant ugg boot before too.

This was the day when we were at Kings Cross and had so much time on our hands that I typed a blog entry using a public computer. At $2 per hour, it wasn't a bad way to kill time. At least it was inside a shopping "mall" of some sort, indoors and -quite- safe. Walking from Townhall to Kings Cross, we went past Kakawa- the chocolate shop.

From Week 28-30, 2010
tt was particularly excited about the caramel chocolate lollipop.

From Week 28-30, 2010
It has a bright smiley face on one side that begs you not to eat it. Always knew tt was a heartless bastard- he bit right into that face without remorse and proceeded to completely abolish the whole thing =(

From Week 28-30, 2010
I got some bitter dark hot chocolate. It came in this tiny coffee cup that was probably half the size of a normal coffee cup. Too bad it wasn't the thick kind of chocolate I was after, but still good. Came with a small bread stick that can be dipped into the hot chocolate.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Not too sure what these are... I know one is caramel and sea salt, the other one is ginseng, and another one is mixed dried fruits and nut, and I suspect the last one is banana caramel.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Mixed nuts with freeze-dried fruits looking very colourful on milk chocolate. I actually forgot about these chocolates and tt snuck them home to have all by himself =P

From Week 28-30, 2010
Requested a photo of the pros making chocolate in store.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Cute tip jar that looks like it's made of some quality dark chocolate and almonds.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Then it was dinner with F+S! F was fascinated by the ceiling that looked a lot like floor boards.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Without flash, the dim lighting makes any photograph grainy... =(

And the food?
From Week 28-30, 2010
MOO GOB PIK PAO
Stir fried crispy pork belly with Spicelam Chili Jam, cherry tomato, spring onion and long red chili.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Pork belly HAS to be crispy. That's the number 1 rule when working with pork belly (I made that up). Braised pork belly is such a waste because everyone gets put off by the layer of soggy fat that oozes oil if you tried to eat it, so most people just eat the meat... and there's not a lot of it. When it's been fried crispy (and you can tell yourself that all the oil has been fried out and won't go straight to your belly or thighs), people are more inclined to eat the whole thing because that's the point of pork belly- to eat the crackling. This was really well done, very crispy and cut into small bite sizes.

From Week 28-30, 2010
ED YUM MA MUANG
Crispy roast duck served with green mango salad, garlic, chili, kaffir lime leaf, eschallot, lemon grass, coriander and crushed roasted cashew nut.
The great thing about this is that there were no bones in the duck at all, which made eating it a lot easier and much more enjoyable. F and I managed to get heaps of chilli in our green mango salad, so S and tt saw us reaching for our water as soon as it hit our tongues and wondering why we were suddenly so bad with spicy food. We're not. You guys just didn't get the chilli. Downside of this dish? Gotta be those freaking chopped-up-to-tiny-pieces-cilantro. If I could, I'd exterminate all cilantro crops and put them to eternal extinction.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Pad Thai. The waiter taught us how to eat it- which is really just putting on the different toppings and getting a different taste. Different toppings were sugar, peanut, chilli powder and lime (and yes, I like to spell "chilli" with a double "L". Spellcheck says it's wrong, but that was how I learnt it, so it stays... heck, it's saying "learnt" isn't a word too! What is wrong with this thing...)

From Week 28-30, 2010
That was at "Spice I am". The branch at Surry Hills is probably more well known, but we went to the one at Darlinghurst. Had 25% off too, thanks to the Entertainment card, so that was at least $26 off the bill for the four of us. Thanks, F+S, for joining us and for the catch up session! =D

From Week 28-30, 2010
On the way back, it started raining a bit and we saw this pitiful-looking dog at the side of the road, tied to a pole while its owners had dinner in a fancy restaurant. Poor thing.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Ending off now because it's another 5:30am start tomorrow, this time for work. I know this was one of the Breakfast! entry, but it deserves a re-post. Snowman's winking... actually, something was wrong with his eye, but I fixed it before eating him.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Hello! Happy has such a homely feel, it's simply lovely sitting inside when it's quiet (which isn't very often). The wooden interior design, yellow lamps, even (fake) flowers on the table makes you feel all warm and happy.

From Week 28-30, 2010
Sure, the cakes aren't cheap, neither is the coffee, but you do get some service- complementary toast with jam.

From Week 28-30, 2010
There's a loyalty card too, for coffees only. And I realised at some angles, snowman will look weird, like in the first photo. Other angles, he'll look really cute like this. Just to recap, he's a blueberry cheesecake, with a blueberry and chocolate hat =)

I'm getting hungry after reading..=( The chocolates were nice, surprisingly the ginseng one wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Hot pot buffet next time!
